Come with me to spend a day in my life in Seattle!
I was lucky enough to come here on a work trip with Rocky Mountain Student Media to photograph March Madness. You can see updates and my photos on Instagram: @paige_shoots, @ctvchannel11, and @csucollegian.
I had the day off to explore the city so I made the most of it, walking around the downtown. I loveeee Seattle because it's a perfect place to walk around, site see, check out museums, art, vintage shops, antique stores, food, and so much more! I think it's also a great place if you are a solo traveler because the city is super walkable and bike-able and I felt pretty safe walking around during the day. I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Vintage and it was super close to the water and about a 10 minute walk to the Public Market Center.
Now for things I walked past, did, and saw while spending the day in Seattle...
Walked past/wanted to do...
Seattle Art Museum
The First Starbucks (1912)
- Cool to see but the line was SOOO long and not worth it to me. If you are a Starbucks lover and that's your thing then go for it, but definitely is not anything super special.
Seattle Aquarium
- I love going to Aquariums and this one seemed really cool but was a little pricey.
Seattle Great Wheel
Things I did...
Ate at Venture Açaí Bowls
- Pricey and pretty mid tasting but filled me up for the day!
Public Market Center
- Cool vendors and the flowers are unreal
- SO many people it can get overwhelming
- I wish I ate at one of the restaurants because it was right on the water and looked super good. I would recommend at least getting a drink and sitting by the water if its a nice day!
- Make sure to go downstairs because there are so many cool little shops to explore and not as many people
Victor Steinbrueck Park
- There is a little grass area that I sat at right next to the Marketplace and it was very relaxing. You can see the Seattle Great Wheel and the water from here.
Miner's Landing
- A place with gift shops, food, ice cream, and arcades inside.
- Worth checking out and there is a Olde Curiosity Shop on the end that has funky and unique things to buy.
Great State Burger
- I ate here for a late lunch and it looked really good but I was pretty disappointed. It was expensive and it felt more like fast food then a high end burger.
- It was $32 for a chicken sandwich, fries, and shake and the portions were small and it was nothing special.
- I definitely would have rather ate at a restaurant nearby instead...
Seattle Waterfront Marketplace
- I LOVED this place! There is a huge antique shop and art vendor place attached.
- The art shop is really cool. I personally love art so this was one of my favorite spots. There are various vendors that sell their own art, jewelry, soaps, lotions, and fragrances.
- I got a everything spray for my room and it smells so good, definitely recommend! It's called Riverdance soap-works (the everything spray) and the scent is "Kauai Ginger".
- The antique shop is right next to the art shop and is really cool. They have everything you can think of like furniture, clothes, dishes, posters, trinkets, etc. Definitely worth checking out!
That was only a couple hours of walking around and I felt like I got a lot done. Personally I feel like one day was enough for the downtown side. I would have liked to check out the botanical gardens and other things but not having a car was tough and I only had one day to check things out.
Overall, such a fun place and will definitely be coming back!
